Art from Cycle of Werewolf by Stephen King and Bernie Wrightson.
This article was written for a newspaper about creating comics created and edited by Kirk Chritton that was published a long time ago. I had a column in it about writing and I took some of those columns and put them together in a 50 something page edition called “For What It’s Worth” (you can buy it online from me, the link is at Buy Me A Coffee). These columns were written long enough ago that there were some I just couldn’t put in the book, one was about waiting to hear back from a publisher in the mail. This was before the internet, lol.
I stand by what I write in this column but I come across in it a little more “my way or the highway” I think. I’ll be honest I’m not a big fan of a lot of horror movies. I’m not a fan of seeing a lot of the gore to be honest. But that’s just me. And I know I’m in the minority here, horror sells. I’ve even written stuff that I would probably not want to see in a movie or tv show, lol. But I still think that the you can scare more with what you don’t show than what you do show.
Let me know what you think? What scares you the most? What are some of your favorite horror stories or movies?
